The Chicago Bears are shoring up their offensive line ahead of next season and are reportedly set to pull off a massive trade in that regard, as it’s been reported that they are set to land guard Joe Thuney in a deal with the Kansas City Chiefs.
Thuney helped the Chiefs reach the Super Bowl last season, but he was not at his best in the big game, given a positional switch. And it appears the Chiefs are ready to part ways.
The Athletic’s Dianna Russini noted that there were ongoing talks between the two teams this week. ESPN’s Adam Schefter has since confirmed that the Bears are sending a 2026 fourth-round pick to the Chiefs in exchange for the four-time Super Bowl winner.

Thuney, who’s also a two-time All-Pro, has been an important player for Kansas City over the years, so this perhaps comes as a surprise.
As for the Bears, they are desperate to augment their offensive line after last season, with rookie quarterback Caleb Williams taking a league-leading 68 sacks.
Celtics Lab NBA Basketball PodcastBoston wins Game 4 vs. Miami, but lose Kristaps Porzingis; what happens next? The Boston Celtics won Game 4 of their 2024 NBA Eastern Conference first round series with the Miami Heat to take a commanding 3-1 lead at Kaseya Center on Monday night, but the win came at a cost. The Celtics lost star big man Kristaps Porzingis to what is being described as a calf strain, and could miss substantial time as a result. How does Porzingis’ injury impact the rest of the series vs. the Heat? Assuming Boston advances (and we should), how do the team’s rotations change in terms of minutes distribution of frontcourt minutes change — and who gets them? The hosts of the CLNS Media “Celtics Lab” podcast took a deep dive into Boston’s Game 4 results and what it means for the team moving forward. We also take a quick look around the league at some other developments that may impact Boston as well, focusing on what we want to see in Game 5. Celtics Lab NBA Basketball PodcastBoston snatches victory from the jaws of defeat in Game 6 with Greg Brueck-CassoliWith the Boston Celtics’ season — and perhaps much more — on the brink in Game 6 of their 2023 Eastern Conference semifinals series with the Philadelphia 76ers, the Celtics needed to put it all out on the court for a win. And somehow, despite a 0-of-10 first half for Jayson Tatum that saw the Duke alum put up just one make from the floor in the third quarter and 18 turnovers for the team, Boston did exactly that. A shift back to the defense-first, double-big lineup of Al Horford and Robert Williams III paid early dividends, and despite things coming a bit unglued for much of the middle of the game, Tatum getting hot from 3 late saved the season and perhaps more. To talk about the improbable, dramatic win for the Celtics, the hosts of the CLNS Media “Celtics Lab” podcast linked up with High Off the Glass’ Greg Brueck-Cassoli. We also (very) briefly touch on the other series around the 2023 NBA Playoffs and look ahead to Game 7 on Mother’s Day at TD Garden. Williams, one of the most hyped QBs to enter the NFL in recent memory, went at No. 1 overall, but he was hardly as effective as Jayden Daniels, who went to the Washington Commanders at No. 2 and fired the team to the NFC Championship Game.
The Bears reckon Williams can be just as productive with better protection.
The deal cannot become official until the new league year begins next week.
