Although I have never personally encountered a house fire—likely due to my heightened sense of caution—I habitually inspect the stove, candles, and dryer vent for lint with great diligence. Nevertheless, there exists a fire hazard that I would have remained oblivious to had it not been for a Facebook post by an individual.

Jason Whitaker, a resident of Kentucky, shared a concerning revelation on Facebook regarding a discovery he made in his home. He reported experiencing a persistent odor reminiscent of an electrical fire and nearly dismantled his house in search of its origin. Ultimately, he identified the source of the smell: a fluorescent spiral light bulb.

Inside the spiral coils of the bulb, he found ladybugs. Indeed, ladybugs are drawn to light and warmth, which explains their presence within the bulb’s coils. As illustrated in Jason’s photographs, the buildup of ladybugs had nearly reached a point of ignition due to the bulb’s heat.
