Elon Musk’s ex-wife and musician Grimes has written a lengthy response to criticism on social media after her former husband performed a ‘Nazi gesture’ during Trump’s presidential inauguration.
There appears to have been quite the spotlight on Elon Musk during Donald Trump’s presidential inauguration, as he’s been shown ‘bizarrely’ celebrating space-related announcements and he was also sued minutes after the event began.
However, what drew the most attention for the current head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) was accusations of a ‘Nazi gesture’ that Musk performed multiple times while speaking on stage.
He has seemingly denied ‘attacks’ from people, claiming that people criticizing him “need better dirty tricks,” but this hasn’t stopped his ex-wife from also receiving pushback on social media.
Grimes, who removed ‘anti imperialist’ from her Twitter bio after marrying Musk, posted a lengthy statement on X after one user claimed that they were reaching ‘breaking point’ with her. The original post remarked: “I’m more than willing to sacrifice my grimes follow and get a tattoo coverup for this btw. I’m hitting a breaking point.”
In response, Grimes opens her lengthy post with the notion that “it is unhealthy that people are this upset when I have not even been online yet today and am only just learning about this controversy now.”
She further responds by claiming that she is “not a citizen of this country,” and that she’s “not going to say something that will create an international scandal.”
Continuing on, Grimes remarks that “I will not make a statement every time he does something. I can only send love back into a world that is hurting,” adding that “I feel a moral imperative to only add to the mess when something positive can be done.”
Finally, she outlines that she “could go talk s*** and be on a bunch of magazine covers and be a feminist hero and get clout – but it would serve no purpose. I choose my children’s wellbeing.”
This is particularly pertinent as Grimes remains in a challenging custody battle with Musk after filing a countersuit following a settlement last August. She has previously detailed that Musk has become ‘unrecognizable’ to her, and that her social media posts have been used against her in court.
While some – including the original poster that Grimes is responding to – do offer their sympathy in regards to her situation, many others aren’t quite as convinced.
“I think this goes way beyond ‘what your ex did’,” one user argues in the replies, “I agree that he does not represent you or your values but apart from having a backbone and standing up for the ones who look up to you is to have an active stance against the people you defend from time to time.”
Grimes came to the aid of her ex-husband a few days ago, as she has also verified his gaming accolades among accusations of cheating.

Some have even referenced this in relation to her assertation that she doesn’t need to make statements about his actions, as one reply disputes: “Genuinely not trying to be rude, but this is literally what you did the other day about the Diablo/PoE2 stuff and then the next day he admitted what everyone suspected. You went out of your way to make a statement on it…”
Regardless of what side you land on, it’s clear many expect more from Grimes considering how outspoken she had been at the start of her career.

Elon Musk’s ex-wife has come to his aid after the tech billionaire has been accused of cheating in games, and he has issued back a simple one-word response.
You’d think that someone with as many responsibilities as Elon Musk wouldn’t have much free time, yet he’s been known to be a ‘video game addict’ according to biographer Walter Isaacson.
Musk is certainly no stranger to people making fun of his gaming abilities either, as a viral social media post of his rather suboptimal Elden Ring build made him a laughing stock, but some think that he might have had the last laugh.

It recently came to light that Musk might actually be one of the best Diablo 4 players in the world, as he cleared one of the game’s toughest challenges in a record-breaking time, and even has the video to prove it.
He has also achieved almost the same in the recently released Path of Exile 2, and it would appear to the untrained eye that he’s got a knack for dungeon-based ARPGs.
Yet, as always, this is not without controversy, as many have levied accusations of cheating – specifically account sharing – against Musk, leaving his otherwise incredible accolades more embarrassing than if he’d just been bad in the first place.
The claim is that Musk simply wouldn’t have the time in order to achieve the things that he has done in Diablo 4, and is likely paying someone else to play the game for him – an action that is a bannable offence.
This has been only further cemented for many after he streamed Path of Exile 2, as he was seen passing by valuable items and attempting to enter portals that he wasn’t eligible for.
Popular streamer Quin69 revealed that Musk “literally has no idea what he’s doing,” and that his actions prove that “this is straight-up account sharing.”
It’s safe to say that Musk didn’t exactly react to the news well, and has had a public spat with huge content creator Asmongold in the days following, yet he might have just been handed a lifeline by an unlikely source.
Despite being currently in the middle of a rather toxic custody battle with his unofficial ex-wife Grimes, she has taken to X (formerly Twitter) to defend his honor and add veracity to his gaming accolades.
“Just for my personal pride,” Grimes declared, “I would like to state that the father of my children was the first american druid in diablo to clear
“He was also ranking in Polytopia, and beat Felix himself at the game. I did observe these things with my own eyes. There are other witnesses who can verify this. That is all.”
While it does all seem a little too official and legal for something that is simply just ‘proof’ that someone is good at a video game, this does perhaps throw water on the fire of cheating allegations.
Elon Musk did indeed reply to the declaration, issuing the simple response of: “Thanks.”
Grimes isn’t the only mother of Musk’s children that has come to his defense in the past few days either, as Shivon Zilis has seemingly also provided proof of his dedication to Diablo.
“Popped up in the ‘one year ago today’ memories,” Zilis posted with a video of Musk playing Diablo, “Didn’t realize how much Season 2 would be one for the record books.”
She also added in the replies that it was “accurate” that Musk was playing for 17 hours a day over the Christmas period, detailing: “He took breaks for family meals and Xmas presents but was too excited for sleep, which is how he made both time with the kiddos and a 17 hour AoZ push work that day.”
Grimes did add that she ‘agrees’ with the notion that Musk should ‘just be honest’ about his gaming achievements though, so the story might not just be over quite yet.
It is possible that France could freeze Elon Musk’s billions in financial assets if he is proven to have broken the law.
President of France Emmanuel Macron doesn’t seem to be a fan of the tech mogul after publicly criticizing him earlier this week.
This comes after Musk took to his own social media platform X, formerly Twitter, to back far-right political parties and condemn left-wing politicians in Europe.
Macron said: “Ten years ago, who would have imagined that the owner of one of the world’s largest social networks would be supporting a new international reactionary movement and intervening directly in elections, including in Germany.
“Who would have imagined it? This is the world in which we live and in which we are going to have to do diplomacy.”
But things might not be looking good for Musk after France recently passed new laws to crack down on foreign election interference.
In the bill, it is possible to freeze the financial assets of anyone – whether that is a person, a firm or an entity – who is found to be engaging in such interference.
Under this law, the likes of Musk could face the possibility of having his own assets freezed or even see himself being put behind bars for foreign election interference.
The Tesla boss has since responded to the accusations made by Macron by hitting out at another European politician – British prime minister Keir Starmer.

In a tweet posted yesterday (January 6), Musk wrote: “Oh like that time Starmer called @realDonaldTrump a racist and said the British government should do everything to stop him?
“Or when Starmer sent British Labour Party members to campaign in the US against President Trump this year?”
In a previous tweet, Musk also made the claim: “Starmer is evil.”
The billionaire has been very vocal online about his thoughts on European politics recently.
Other tweets of his include: “Starmer must go. He is national embarrassment,” and “The Reform Party needs a new leader. Farage doesn’t have what it takes.”
Musk also shared a tweet from a user who claimed that UK arrests for social media posts had ‘skyrocketed’ in 2024, adding: “In 2024, the UK arrested over 100 reported people for social media posts, with charges ranging from ‘grossly offensive’ content to incitement during protests.
“Critics are calling it a full-scale assault on free speech.”
In response, Musk wrote: “At this rate, the UK Government will pretty soon be executing people for liking a meme!”
Podcaster and former friend of Elon Musk has revealed the text that seemingly ended their friendship, and it was all because Musk got it wrong about Covid-19.
If there’s one guy you don’t want to get on the wrong side of, it’s Elon Musk. More than being the richest man in the world and well on the way to becoming the first-ever trillionaire, Musk has managed to infiltrate American politics due to his ties to Donald Trump, as well as taking over the tech world with the likes of X, SpaceX, and Tesla.
More than this, he’s a man who’s shown he doesn’t like to be crossed, recently sharing DMs between him and controversial streamer, Zack “Asmongold” Hoyt.
Someone only too familiar with Musk’s fiery demeanor is podcaster-philosopher Sam Harris, who explains how a single text ended his friendship with Elon Musk.
Posting on his Substack, Harris revealed the fallout of how seemingly proving Musk wrong led to the latter severing ties.
This isn’t the first time Harris has spoken out about Elon Musk (YouTube / Club Random Podcast)
Harris says, “I didn’t set out to become an enemy of the world’s richest man, but I seem to have managed it all the same,” claiming that Musk wasn’t ‘hungry’ for public attention until he started responding to people on Twitter (which he later bought and rebranded as X).
Harris warns: “Let this be a cautionary tale for any of Elon’s friends who might be tempted to tell the great man something he doesn’t want to hear.”
The pair apparently met in 2008, when Harris says Musk was on the verge of bankruptcy. He claims he helped Elon with security concerns and put him in touch with bodyguards, while they also went shooting together.
Harris admits there’s some sort of irony, saying that Musk targeting him on social media has led to him having his own security concerns.
Despite being friends, things came to a head during the pandemic. Harris writes that he became concerned with Musk’s posts around March 2020, especially when the billionaire posted a tweet that said: “The coronavirus panic is dumb.”
Sending a text to his supposed friend, an excerpt from Harris reads: “You have an enormous platform, and much of the world looks to you as an authority on all things technical.
“Coronavirus is a very big deal, and if we don’t get our act together, we’re going to look just like Italy very soon.”
He also suggested that Elon should free up some technicians because it would be a good time to work on ventilators.

Musk reportedly responded with a link to the CDC site saying COVID wasn’t in the Top 100 causes of death in the USA and added: “Sam, you of all people should not be concerned about this.”
During the exchange, Harris says Musk bet him $1 million against a bottle of $1,000 tequila that the USA wouldn’t see 35,000 cases of COVID-19 – clarifying cases, not death.
Following a few sporadic messages over the next few weeks, Harris sent the following when the CDC reported 600,000 cases and 35,000 deaths in the USA: “Is (35,000 deaths + 600,000 cases) > 35,000 cases?”
Harris says that while Musk has never responded, he’s still being targeted on Twitter/X to this day – even after he left the platform in 2022.
Referring to Musk’s recent commentary on foreign politics, Harris concluded, “He [Elon] regularly promotes lies and conspiracy theories manufactured by known bad actors.”
With one final barb, Harris talked about how Musk’s wealth has grown since Trump won the election, concluding: “Such astonishing access to resources gives Elon the chance—and many would argue the responsibility—to solve enormous problems in our world. So why spend time spreading lies on X?” Ouch, that’s got to burn.
The internet has been sent into hysterics after a video from Donald Trump’s presidential inauguration shows a stark contrast between Barron Trump and Elon Musk’s ‘bizarre’ and excited reaction.
It’s no surprise to anyone that Elon Musk was front and center for much of Donald Trump’s presidential welcome, as the richest man in the world has played a key part in the election campaign and post-victory plans.
Musk’s own mother has commented on how close the pair are, and Elon has now officially taken his place as co-head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) following a pledge to cut $2,000,000,000,000 from federal spending.
Outside of his government affiliations though perhaps the thing that Musk is known for the most is SpaceX – in particular his desire to visit and eventually colonize Mars.
It appears as if Trump is also a keen fan of these plans, as the President mentioned this as something he wants to achieve within the next four years, and that certainly appeared to please the SpaceX founder.
“We will pursue our manifest destiny into the stars,” outlined President Trump, “by launching American astronauts to plant the Stars and Stripes
This is quite a clear statement of intent, and it could signal that Trump is willing to forgo the regulatory and economic hurdles that have prevented astronauts from setting foot on the Moon for over half a century.
What many have actually focused on in line with this statement though is the reaction of Elon Musk, shown in a cutaway shortly after, especially as it offers quite the contrast to Barron Trump – the president’s son – in front of him.
Musk is shown gleefully nodding, cheering, and giving two thumbs up, whereas Barron Trump looks rather contemplative and even annoyed, especially in juxtaposition to Elon’s enthusiasm.
Social media, of course, has had a lot of fun with this clash of personalities, and the reaction has been that of hysterics across X (formerly Twitter).
“Elon Musk always looks like the annoying classmate who used to throw paper airplanes from the last row,” outlines one user, whereas “Barron, on the other hand, at 18, looks like he’s about to preside over the Supreme Court in a joint session.”
You certainly wouldn’t be able to guess which one of the two actually holds a role in government right now!
Another user adds that they’re “getting some strong King Joffrey vibes from Barron Trump,” while “Elon must be high AF. Nobody acts like that unless they’re 5 yrs old or poppin pills.”
Someone even goes so far to argue that “Barron knows how s*** his dad will be, while Elon Musk dances around like a clown, he will do whatever to try and get one more dollar.”
It’s up to you to decide what to take from this bizarre clip, but it certainly shows the clash of personalities that could be present in this new regime.
